Thanksgiving

It’s been a couple of weeks since Thanksgiving, and I’ve been thinking about what is most important in my life since then. I am so blessed with the incredible family I have. My mom is one of my best friends, and I am lucky to have her as such. She and my dad have always been supportive, and though we’ve butted heads in the recent past, it is a sign to me that I am finally learning to assert myself and to properly ascertain what my needs are at the moment. But they are there–moment by moment–to give me love and support. Nothing–no monetary value, no material object–can ever take their place. My brother and sister-in-law have also been there for me in so many ways, and opening up and talking with my brother has led me to heal in a way only he could have provided. And, of course, they have produced my niece, for whom my love in infinite. And my extended family–grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins–are some of the best people I know and would choose them as friends were they not family. I am just so lucky to love as much as I do and be loved just as much. It fills me with hope and purpose.
